Pamela Adlon and I met in the hallowed halls of Bon Appétit on March 4, 2020 (above). MARCH FOURTH TWENTY-TWENTY. Let that sink in. We did not know that the globe was about to implode. We were too busy recording an episode of the BA Foodcast and simultaneously falling in love.

Over the past four years, Pamela and I have texted back and forth about our love for vintage cookbooks, whether it’s okay to leave cooked brisket out all night, and the joys of sleeping like a starfish in the center of the bed. This podcast, my sweet precious baby, is all about incredible, talented people having a really bad day in the kitchen. That’s it. That’s the whole show.

My first guest and new bff is John Early, who tells—in harrowing detail—about cooking an actually inedible dinner for Chelsea Peretti. At her house. It is one of those stories that he knew would be funny someday, but definitely wasn’t funny in the moment.

Well, today we alllllll get to laugh about it.
