Greetings from Day One, Week Four. Can’t believe this is the last week of the RDW and very excited for tonight’s panel.

The theme of this week is Pitching, Sharing, and Promoting, aka Cringe, Fear, and Hesitation. When it comes to touting your (my) own work, a lot of FEELZ are going to come to the surface. There are two sides to this coin: completing a “thing,” and putting it out there is equal parts strategy/best practices, and fighting inner demons. For most of us (not all!), it is very hard to take something you worked on and go, HANDS UP HELLO OVER HERE IT’S ME I’M AMAZING LOOK AT THIS!!!

Shameless self-promotion is a cliché, but like “guilty pleasure,” we’ve been conditioned to think that calling attention to oneself is something we’re supposed to have shame about. That’s twisted! Can we get a rebrand on that???How about just “necessary self-promotion”? “Professional self-promotion”? It’s just: promotion.
