Yet another swing and BIG hit from Carla... of course! When I saw John's masterful special, I hoped he was sending you a cosmic signal with the BA material. Confirmed! :) I subscribe for your recipes, sure, but even more for the true pleasure of hearing and seeing you "be real." The ability to be so genuine and natural - and conversational - is a gift!
I think my worst kitchen day so far was one time as a teenager I was babysitting a kid who I also tutored in math, and I decided it would be a good idea to bake a cake with her and teach her about fractions and measurements. It was supposed to be for my brother’s birthday. We made…the WORST cake I have ever seen. The layers didn’t rise at all…what came out of the oven was three large brown crackers, and somehow the icing turned out both lumpy and gray. I lied to her and told her it was all part of the process and it would look great once it was assembled. Then she went home and I baked my brother a new cake.
Omg I can’t WAIT to listen to this. Also wanna say my worst ever cooking moment was teaching a class on hot pepper jelly and the jelly not setting— it was HORRIFYING. I felt like I rose out of my body and viewed the scene from above like a nightmare. Everyone was blessedly very nice. The hot pepper syrup tasted good.
This is so fuckin funny cannot wait for moreeeee

I loved every second of it! What a soothing balm it was for this recently-singled soul. Always more laughter!

Did not disappoint!! The things that John did are so relatable, and that’s one of the reasons the episode was so good.
New fave pod alert!
